on Saturday 5th June 2026 and 5<sup>th<\/sup> September 2026 from 9.00 am.<\/p>\n<p>Come along and learn the secrets of the professionals shared from a full time fly-fishing guide and AAPGAI instructor.<\/p>\n<p>JT has won SIX English National Rivers titles and has also been International Rivers Champion, in addition to winning multiple caps and medals at World, European and Commonwealth Championship events.\u00a0 Andy has also been International Rivers Champion and has represented England at multiple European and Commonwealth championships.<\/p>\n<p>Places are strictly limited and booking is essential.\u00a0 Bookings can be made <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/fishing-licences\/buy-a-fishing-licence\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">click here<\/a><\/span><\/span><span class=\"c4\">)\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><span class=\"c0\">Fly fishing for Trout and Grayling at Leekworth<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"c0\">The River Tees is a prolific game fishing river and the private stretch at Leekworth Caravan Park is no exception.\u00a0 Wild brown trout and grayling are both present in good numbers. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p29\"><span class=\"c0\">For fly-fishing the River a rod between 8 and 10 feet in length and rated for 3-5 weight fly lines is advised. \u00a0A floating fly line is the most suitable. \u00a0If you are new to river fly-fishing and would like an introduction, JT<\/span><span class=\"c2\"> can teach you the basics and get you catching fish very quickly. \u00a0Waders are essential but take extra care when wading in the river Tees. \u00a0It is a spate river and can rise very quickly without warning.\u00a0 The river bed is challenging with slippery boulders which are not visible in the peat-stained water. \u00a0Stout-soled wading boots and a wading staff are advised for safety reasons.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p31\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><span class=\"c0\">Flies for the River Tees at Leekworth<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p32\"><span class=\"c0\">A small selection of dry flies and nymphs should see most visiting anglers at Leekworth catching fish. <\/span><span class=\"c3\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>We are one of the only places to stock JT&#8217;s hand-tied flies.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We also have a range of fly-fishing equipment and accessories.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The above video \u2018In the ring of the rise\u2019 shows former England team member Jonathan Barnes fishing in Leekworth Caravan Parks private stretch of the River Tees.<\/p>\n<p>We can also be used as a great base to visit many more nearby excellent fly fishing spots on the River Tees.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>These include Darlington Brown Trout Angling Association (DBTAA) Water (Members and guest only), Raby Estate Water, Strathmore Estate Water, Cow Green Reservoir, Grassholme and Hury.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"grammarly-disable-indicator\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Free Fishing and Fishing Events NEW DATES FOR 2026 ***6th June 2026 and 5th September 2026 date for your diary*** John Tyzack (or JT as he is widely known) and Andy Cliffe will be at Leekworth Caravan Park to host a full day of &#8216;River Fly Fishing&#8217;
